NTT Docomo Develops Blockchain Game "GT6551" Featuring the Latest NFT Standard ERC6551, Ushering in a New Era of Racing NFT Customization

NTT Docomo Inc. announced on December 20, 2024, that it has developed the blockchain game "GT6551" equipped with the latest NFT standard ERC6551, and will begin offering a beta version starting January 29, 2025. The provision of a blockchain game utilizing ERC6551 is said to be the first in the world.

ERC6551 is a new standard that extends NFT functionality, allowing multiple NFTs to be combined and consolidated into a single digital asset. The "GT6551" developed with this feature in mind enables the combination and customization of in-game items such as "Racing Machines" with car parts and Driver NFTs freely using the Catalyst. This allows for the creation and ownership of unique NFT items.

NTT DOCOMO, Inc. (hereinafter referred to as DOCOMO) has developed the blockchain game "GT6551" (hereinafter referred to as the game) equipped with the latest NFT (Non-Fungible Token) standard ERC6551. From January 29, 2025 (Wednesday), we will begin offering the beta version. Utilizing the features of ERC6551 to combine multiple NFTs into one and customize the functionality of NFTs through their combination makes this the first blockchain game of its kind in the world.

ERC6551 is a new standard that extends the functionality of NFTs, with the significant feature of combining multiple NFTs into a single one. This game has been developed with a focus on this distinctive feature, allowing users to freely combine multiple NFT assets, such as car parts, into their "racing machines," which are NFT assets used within the game. These customized NFTs can then be combined into a single NFT asset. The created racing machines are owned as original collections (assets), providing entirely new value within the blockchain game. Additionally, in the game, players can enhance the performance of their racing machines by combining multiple assets (NFTs), expanding the freedom of play and offering a new gaming experience.

This game is on Docomo's metaverse 'MetaMe*3,' a possible racing blockchain game. Specifically, by combining two types of NFTs—'Parts NFTs,' which customize the performance and design of the racing machine, and 'Driver NFTs,' which customize the drivers installed on the racing machine—you can customize the racing machine.

In addition, this game is scheduled to be launched on "MetaMe" in the spring of 2025※5. In addition to providing a beta version ahead of the official launch, to commemorate the development of this game, it will be first publicly unveiled※7 at the web3 esports event "NEO SERIES 2024 Rd.Final※6" to be held on December 21, 2024 (Saturday).
